Shanghai Chengcheng Shopping
mall, established under the name of Hongqiao Commercial Center, is
proposed in 1999. The construction started in 2002, paused in 2003
and will be resumed in 2008. The project covers an area of 78,000
m2, with one basement and a six-story large building unit as the
original design. Before the pause in 2003, the main frame of the
basement and the five-above-ground stories has been finished. The
scheme optimizes the enveloping structure considering the specialty
of market building. We propose for the thermal performance of
exterior doors and windows in the aspects of energy conservation and
economics. The statistics from comparing the energy conservation of
several façade structures adopting different window to wall ratio
provides the reference for building façade design. We compare the
annual energy consumption of different air-conditioning systems by
computer modeling and propose for a better air-conditioning cooling and
heating system.
